Is Spring A Common Time to Treat Bedbugs?

Bedbugs are known to be year-around pests, but their activity peaks between June and October. These critters do not hibernate, but they become more sluggish during off-peak months. Spring being the time when most households and facilities start a thorough cleaning and disinfection, the season is also a common time to detect and to address any bedbug issues before the pests start proliferating faster. Here is why spring is optimal for bedbug elimination:

  • Bedbugs are less active – bedbugs are very small and during their peak months, they also move very quickly. In spring, when they are not fully active, they are easier to detect.
  • Better ventilation – the rooms that have been treated for bedbugs need to be properly ventilated. Warm spring days are best for the purpose – the air is fresh, but not too cold, thus minimizing heat loss in the building. Again, we do not recommend the bed bug cleaning you are proposing a customer do.
